AWESOME cafe in Regent Square. Delicious food! Great atmosphere!

If you go, get the fruit crepes. I don’t care if you go for breakfast or lunch. Just get them.

Strawberry smoothie was okay, but not great.

I did speed networking at work with other people who work in the Department of Human Services. It was okay. Not something I’m going to rush to sign up for again, though. It was nice to meet people I knew by name, but not face. But, well, it was just okay.

I’ve been holding off on going to Church Brew Works because a friend from home wanted to go with me, but it’s been 10 months and she hasn’t visited, so when the opportunity to go there with some friends presented itself, I had to take it!

It’s a pretty cool place – an old church converted into a brewpub. I had a great beer (I know it was different, but I also have no idea what it was, other than my server’s favorite), and delicious Garden Plum Tomato Pizza (surprisingly good!)!

Unfortunately, my visit was a bit rushed because I had to leave in under an hour, but next time I will take the time to soak up the atmosphere, and great beers!

I’ve eaten grilled salmon before, but I’ve never grilled it myself. It wasn’t too tough! And, I love the ease of cleanup (grilled it on top of foil), and the fact that my house won’t smell like it does when I broil it in my oven. Excellent!

Did I mention it’s delicious!?

During the last election, I didn’t know what to do because I never received my voter registration card, even though it turns out I did have the receipt from when I registered saying that I had registered. Plus, I didn’t know the political landscape of Pittsburgh quite yet, so I chose to leave my uninformed self at home. Well, this time I voted! I had no card, or receipt this time, but it turns out I didn’t need it! I was on the list, so I voted.

I signed up for Star 12 as part of my professional development opportunities since I’m the Scholar in Local Government at DHS. The first seminar I attended was on how to be a dynamic public speaker. It was a good group of people, an interactive seminar, and all-in-all a good day. I learned lots of things!

Needless to say, not every new thing I do is on purpose! I was super gluing a glass nightlight that broke and had to pry my finger off after I accidentally touched a spot with glue. It didn’t feel good! I still don’t know how glue got there, but fortunately, it was only a small amount!

The redeeming part of the evening was when I happened to go on the internet at the perfect moment and got the chance to Gchat with my good friend for a few minutes who is overseas in Europe right now. That’s the first time I’ve spoken to someone outside the U.S. in real time. Good stuff.

It was a BEAUTIFUL day for a bike ride, and I am so glad I signed up for this Meetup group ride! We rode on country roads and through Mingo Creek County Park in Washington County. It’s a 45 min. drive south of Pittsburgh, but so worth it when you need an escape from the city! I just wish I’d had my camera with me. The country roads for awesome and had minimal traffic. The park was wonderful with lots of picnic space, open fields, and a creek running the whole way through it.

Awesome.

You should go.
